Cactus

Sow:

January - August

Flower:

January - December

How to Plant:

Sow cacti on the surface of the

compost and cover.

Seal the seeds inside a plastic bag,

maintain a temperature of 20 –

25°C until after germination, which

can be erratic and usually takes

between 1 and 3 months.

Do not exclude light when growing

cacti, because this helps

germination

When seedlings are large enough

to handle, transplant them into the

pots and continue to grow in warm

conditions.

Parlour Palm

Sow:

January - December

How to Plant:

Sow seeds on the surface of the

compost and lightly cover, 3mm

deep with more compost.

Seal in a plastic bag and maintain

at a temperature 25-30°C until after

germination, which usually takes 10

– 42 days.

Transplant seedlings when large

enough to handle, taking care not

to damage the fragile roots, into 8

cm pots provided.

Pot into a larger container when

the roots fill the pot.

Bonus Tips!

Painted Nettle

Feed and water regularly,

particularly during hot, dry periods.

Remove any developing flower

spikes because they will weaken

the plant and cause poor quality

foliage.

They should be given full light and

a warm position in the winter

months.

Reduce watering and keep the

compost just moist to prevent

rotting and fungal diseases from

developing.

Pinch back plants in the spring as

growth resumes

Cactus

Keep the surface of the compost

moist but not waterlogged.

Keep watering carefully until the

cacti are fully established.

Cactus plants are slow growing so

patience is required.

Grow cacti in full light with some

shelter from the hottest sun.

In summer, water cacti regularly

with soft water or rainwater.

Allow the compost to dry out

slightly between watering.

In winter while the plant is

dormant, gradually reduce watering

and allow the compost to remain

dry.

An average temperature of 10-23°C

is ideal

Parlour Palm

Water freely between spring and

autumn using tepid rainwater

where possible and allow the pot to

drain well after each watering.

In winter, reduce watering, but do

not allow the compost to dry out.

Feed regularly between March and

September when they are actively

growing.
